Old Hillside Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Tyrrell's Old Hillside Vineyard Shiraz draws from a single site at Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley, Old Hillside. The vines grow on a steep, east facing block.
These are the property's younger vines, yet still have an average age of 50 years. They grow right underneath the Brokenback Range, the site's steadfast protector.
The fruit is handpicked and sorted in the vineyard prior to fermentation in open top vats. Post ferment, the wine matures in mostly newer 2,500 litre French oak casks.
Crimson purple, Tyrrell's Old Hillside Vineyard Shiraz has vibrant fruit flavours, savoury spice and structural tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
